Overview of Super Safety Valve

The Super Safety Valve with working pressure up to 15000 psi is applied for the drill stem testing service in the cased hole, and serve as a fail safe safety Valve for well testing from a land or jack-up rig. Normally the super safety valve is located inside or below the Blow Out Preventer in order to control well flow.

Design Features of super safety valve

The Super Safety Valve is designed with a chemical injection port and controlled by two hydraulic lines The SSV is operated to close by spring force, but the tool has a nitrogen charge chamber to quicken the closing time, which make the super safety valve has the ability to cut wireline and coiled tubing without the addition of balance line pressure.

Operations of the Super safety valve

Typically, the super safety valve is run into the BOP where the valve controls the tubing area while the BOP pipe ram seals off the annulus.

The super safety valve is controlled by three hydraulic lines, one to each of the following:

• Control Chamber

• Balance Chamber (Nitrogen Chamber)

• Chemical Injection Port
