Wireline Pulling Tools R Type & S Type For Slick Line Service
The pulling tools are the wireline tools for slickline fishing
operation, it is the outer pulling tool used in wireline operation
or slickline operation. The R type pulling tools is able to grasp
the shoulder of the outer fishing neck with special fishing claw
and move upward to release the claw. There are three types of R
type pulling tools including RB, RS and RJ. The R Type Pulling Tools is designed to engage industry standard external fishing neck on
subsurface equipment and has the shear to release feature by
jarring up to shear the pin.
The R-type pulling tool consists of upper contact, outer cylinder,
sleeve, shear pin, shear pin sheath,fishing claw, main spring, secondary spring, spring seat, etc. The
R type pulling tools are designed with some grooves distributed uniformly on the outer cylinder; the
fishing claw is installed on the groove and shrunk under the
function of secondary spring and spring seat; the mandrel is fixed
with outer cylinder with shear pin to connect with the bottom of
the upper contact.
Operation of the Pulling tools
When the pulling tool slides over the fishing neck that is to be
retrieved, the toolstring weight compresses dog spring forcing the
dogs out as they slide up the beveled grooves of lower skirt to
latch on fish.
2. Once the inner flange of the pulling tool dogs pass the bottom
flange of the fishing neck, the dog spring tension returns dogs to
the bottom of beveled grooves of the lower skirt.
3. When the jarring impact has sheared the “R” and “S” pulling
tools the core spring tension pushes the core up, raising the dogs
which slide up the beveled dog grooves to the released position.
4. To re-pin the “R” and “S” pulling tools rotate shear pin fall
out. With the use of a core extractor, to compress the core spring
the core is pulled down in the pulling tool until the shear pin
holes line up. Sheared pieces of the pin is removed a new pin is
installed.
5. Rotating the shear pin retainer ¼ turn completes the re-pinning
of the tool.
